Great Leader not just a leader

Good leaders make people feel that they're at the very heart of things, not at the periphery. Everyone feels that he or she makes a difference to the success of the organization. When that happens people feel centered and that gives their work meaning.
- Warren G. Bennis

Leadership is an art and a science. It is an art because it continually evolves, changes form, and requires creativity. It is a science because there are certain essential principles and techniques required. A good leader knows when it is time to change shape because they are highly attentive to those around them. Coming from a position of strength, a great leader takes risks by freeing up the creative genius in their followers to build their capability and multiply the talents of the organization. This leads to community and greatness. By powerfully communicating a vision that animates, motivates, and inspires followers, a great leader is able to transform his or her organization. A good leader needs to be able to laugh; a great leader needs to be able to laugh at oneself.

I believe with all my heart my friends that you also can be a great leader. We born in this world is to be a leader(khalifah). You also can choose to grow to become a great leader. Start today in your daily life. Apply these principals in your life and you will see a big difference and change in your life. Take small step each and every that will take you where you want to go, it’s better than standing still and doing nothing.

There are some things we can do as leaders to help prevent problems from arising.
* Maintain a full agenda of activities.
* Be consistent in your delivery and expectations.
* Have a contingency plan in place before the next day of business.
* Communicate with language that is positive, yet firm.
* Create a pleasant, safe working environment.
* Communicate with customers, coworkers and clients on a regular basis.
* Intervene early when difficulties arise.
* Teach your coworkers problem solving techniques.
* Communicate and coordinate with peers, even those in other organizations.
* Determine staff ability levels.
* Identify appropriate motivational tools.
* Constantly reevaluate your procedures for appropriateness and possible improvement.
* Maintain high supervisory mobility within the workplace.
* Use shaping and fading strategies to gradually change non-productive staff behaviors.
* Involve your staff as much as possible, in day to day decisions and long term planning.

The most dangerous leadership myth is that leaders are born - that there is a genetic factor to leadership. This myth asserts that people simply either have certain charismatic qualities or not. That's nonsense; in fact, the opposite is true. Leaders are made rather than born. Failing organizations are usually over-managed and under-led.
